European Beech

European Beech (fagus
                                             sylvatica)

European Beech (fagus sylvatica)

Naturally low branched tree with attractive glossy green ovate leaves which look similar in appearance to those of a Hornbeam. Variable leaves that are generally a bit wider than Japanese Beech. Smooth silvery-gray bark is quite ornamental. The bark looks like elephant skin on older specimens. The wood is almost white and is used most often in toys and furniture. The most distinctive feature of the Beech is its unmistakable cigar-shaped buds. These buds are rather tender. Natures way of protecting these buds is for the Beech to retain its dead leaves throughout winter. Decideous. Keep outdoors. 8-14 years old - 7 tree group which includes two purple Beech (fagus sylvatica 'purpurea'). 25"x18"x20". Potted in a 19" brown oval mica container as shown. Suitable 18"x13" humidity tray is recommended. To purchase add $11.95 (50% off regular price with tree order). Shipped via UPS ground - $95.00.

To keep your bonsai tree healthy and growing well, NEVER use tap water on your bonsai. ALWAYS use drinking, distilled, or Reverse Osmosis purified water. A "simple" carbon filter water filter will not get the water purified enough for your bonsais. Tap water contains chlorine, metals and minerals that will harm your bonsai over time.
